35 Years of Quality Healthcare and Service
March 08, 2011
St. Petersburg, FL - Edward White Hospital, Your Community Hospital, is celebrating 35 years of quality healthcare and service to the St. Petersburg area this month.
Founded by 25 dedicated physicians in the area, Edward White Hospital opened its doors in March 1976, the same year our country celebrated its 200th birthday. As a result, the hospital was named in memory of, and to honor, Edward Higgins White II, the Gemini 4 Astronaut who was the first American to walk in space. Today the hospital has found its niche in the medical community, with a medical staff that has grown to more than 337 physicians dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to patients.
When asked about the hospital’s noteworthy milestone, Chief Executive Officer Roland Metivier said, “Edward White Hospital has always been Your Community Hospital and with approximately 600,000 patients coming through our doors in the last 35 years, you can always count on quality healthcare service at our facility.” Metivier continued, “We have performed close to 64,000 surgeries and the future will be even more remarkable for us.”
For all the employees, past and present, Edward White Hospital extends a warm thank you for their dedication and hard work. Connie Holmes of Surgical Services, and Polly Williams of Food and Nutritional Services, have served as employees at the hospital since it opened in 1976, so this is an important milestone for them as well. For the people in the St. Petersburg area, the hospital is committed to providing the highest level of compassionate and quality care in a boutique like environment. Where taking care of your needs is essential, Edward White Hospital strives to be Your Community Hospital.
